Nothing makes you more of a parent than putting
your child’s needs above your own. We have learned this through years of
waiting, watching, and wanting to be parents ourselves, and we believe this is
what adoption is all about. The selfless sacrifice that you are considering is
truly the essence of being a “parent.” We understand that adoption is about the
love that you have for your child, and we hope to emulate that same selfless
love as parents.
In all honesty, writing this letter is hard. In
fact, putting our profile and blog together was equally difficult. We struggled
to make everything "just right"—to find the ideal words—thinking that
if only we could find the perfect phrase we would be selected. We can only imagine the challenges you are going
through as you consider an adoption plan and sift through countless prospective
couples. A lot is on the line. But the
reality is, we can say and do very little, other than to pray that you will be
guided in your journey. Our prayer for you is that through this difficult and
heart-wrenching circumstance, you will be led down the path that is best for
you and also for your child. Although it is hard to communicate it in a letter,
we hope that you know this is our sincere hope. We would love nothing more than
to join in your journey.
For many years we have looked forward, with great
anticipation, to becoming parents—a role we will never take for granted. Perhaps
it is naive to say we are fully prepared. But over the years, we have had a
great deal of time to discuss our dreams and goals as future parents. Although there are certainly plenty of
struggles that come with infertility, we feel that one of the underlying
blessings is the time we have had to further prepare ourselves to be parents.
We have gone to our friends' children's baseball games, watched them play with our
dogs, and babysat. We have dreamed about what experiences and family traditions
we would share with our children. We have pictured the faces of our parents as
we introduce them to their new grandchild. And we have definitely imagined
those first few moments with our new baby countless times. We have spent a great deal of time hoping and
waiting for what you may provide. If you would be willing to give us that
chance, we would be forever grateful.
We understand that you have an incredibly
important decision to make. More than anything else, the one thing we want you
to know about us is that we will give your child all the love and opportunities
we possibly can. We know that the best things in life come to those who wait,
and we have been waiting for what seems like a very long time! We have prayed fervently to know when the time
was right to pursue adoption. After years of prayer,
our Heavenly Father has answered our petition. There were times when it was difficult to wait so long, but we
know that the Lord has a plan and purpose in all things. We finally feel that
this is the time. We trust in Heavenly Fathers guidance and plan for us and for
you. We can’t wait to build our forever
family through the miracle of adoption and we would love for you to be the
essential part of bringing that miracle to pass.
With all our love,
Dave and Kara
